A lover of all animals, expecially 4-legged ones, Alice attempted to save a young brown squirrel from the jaws of a dog.
The dog finally released his prey, and as Alice pulled the squirrel from the jaws of death, it bit her instead of the dog.
Thanks a lot to the squirrel!
But, Alice still didn't learn her lesson! A few weeks later, the dog caught another squirrel and rendered it helpless.
So Alice, not knowing what to do with a live squirrel that couldn't move, called the local animal control to see what she should do.
There was concern that the animal might have rabies so she held the squirrel and waited for the man to arrive.
Suddenly, the squirrel began to move -- and it bit the fingers of Alice!
The squirrel would not let go!
So poor Alice had to pry the strong jaws loose with her other hand.
Now both hands have squirrel bites!
The animal control man arrived with cage in hand.
Alice released the squirrel into the small cage and the man shut the cage door --- almost.
It didn't slide properly and the squirrel ran out of the cage and up a tree!
And poor Alice was left with bleeding, swollen fingers and punctured fingernails!
But she could still play the bloody piano!
