They say he came from Tequila Gulch, headin' up a posse after a desperado named Toeless Joe. Ol' Joe got his handle during a quick-draw contest, when his gun went off before it cleared the holster. The days got longer and the posse got smaller, until the only one left with the dedication to capture Toeless Joe, was Marshal Mike. He figured the only way to find the villian was to frequent the kind of places that a desperado might go. Well, that's what brought Marshal Mike to Delano. He figured that sooner or later, ol' Toeless would come to see the Dollies, and Marshal Mike would be there, waiting.

The marshal explains the importance of payoffs, er, uh... paying that is, for licenses, yeah that's it, to sell their medicine. Hmmm... the Marshal is from Delano... the peddlers are in Olathe where they have their own Sheriff. Well... he is a U.S. Marshal. I suppose his jurisdiction could stretch that far.
