Lacy is the daughter of a French-born performer who tried her luck at coming to America to find fame and fortune. She was left destitute and with-child in Wichita while traveling with a touring company. When Lacy was 16, her mother ran off with an actor and left Lacy to fend for herself. Lacy inherited the nightingale voice of her mother's and learned to dance to help make ends meet. Not knowing any other life, Lacy always yearned to raise above the prejudice of being a performer. She had quite an affection for men who she thought could make her respectable. She always dressed like a lady in the finest laces and became quite fond of the men who bought her pretty things. She used her exotic French background to woe many a cowboy and gambler. She's known as Mademoiselle Lacy.
